Ice cream fundraiser for the family sponsorship.

Me and my group members were very confused on where to start getting the money for our family sponsorship. Then we started discussing about fundraising and to sell something that everybody would buy, as the other group sold hot chocolate and cookies our group didn't want to steal their idea so we decided to sell ice cream sundaes even though it's cold outside there's no time not to have ice cream like everyone loves icecream. To advertise we did many things like make posters, announce in  the PA system and also I posted it on my every social networking site and luckily the outcome was greater than I thought it would be We didn't really have to face any difficulties for this idea because the ice cream was kept in the freezer in the PE office and the box of plates and spoons were also kept there. When it comes to selling the ice cream it was really crazy, busy and exciting because I didn't think a lot of people would actually come to buy because of the cold weather but happily a lot of people were buying and I was honestly so excited when I saw the huge line because inside I thought everything payed off. In the end we made $137.95 and that's amazing, we also made profit because I bought all the items and ice cream for $60-$70 and we made a really big profit. Also knowing that we made such a big effort to make this work we raised so much for our sponsored family, I'm so happy that we are sponsoring a family because I honestly love helping other people in need because if you think about it we all have ups and downs in our lifetime and in reality you should have a bigger heart and big money because what if I was in a family that needed help, like if our generation of children don't make a difference now who will, even if that means donating food for the food bank or even donating a small donation because in the end everything counts and if we all all make an effort we can make a huge difference in somebody else's life.

Midterm Blog Post

Community Leadership is a great class for anybody that enjoys to lend a a hand in our community. So far I really enjoy this class because it has taught me many new things and about many new oppurtunities and ways to get involved in our community. I think I am doing fairly well in this class because I always get involved in all the activites and try to stay engaged in everying going on in the class well I know I have my chatting moments because when your around your friends you have the urge to talk to them but it's true I chat at times but I also stay engaged in every activity and have gone to all the field trips and now I am trying to browse at ways I can be engaged in the community outside of the class because the presenter that came from the food bank it really pushed me when we did the money acitivity and I visually presented on how money can get wasted on so many needs that the essential needs to humans like food is hard to afford and that's why I want to become a volunteer at the food bank because it's a great way to be enagaged in the community and learn new things and to give back to our own community of people is even better. When it comes to the values of our classroom I believe and think that I am doing a great job of applying them in the classroom and keeping them in my mind so I can use them when needed
Positive Attitudes   - Creativity                                           -
-Selflessness
- Equality   - Respect   - Teamwork
- Everyone’s Voice      - Commitment   - Honesty
- Personal & Social Responsibility    These are our class values.
I am enjoying a lot in the course such as the god's little acre farm field trip, grade 8 retreat, meeting new people, know about the different oppurtinties ways to get invovled in the community. I enjoy all these things in community leadership because it has taught how hard people work to earn food and essential human needs and it has also taught me how to be a learner and how to become a leader. I wouldn't say to change anything in the course because I think everything is set and balanced so every student can figure out there personal qualities and different ways to serve the public good and then feel great about it after. I think I derserve a 87% because I might chat but I always participate in all the acitivities and I try to stay engaged in the class the best I can and I think I desreve a G in work habits because I stay invovled in every acitvity our class does.

Tree Planting

Tree planting was really difficult espically because we had to dig in mud in the cold wet rain and top of that I wasn't really prepared but luckily I had a change of clothes for after. Well for the actually planting there was a lot of plants that the city office had provided us with and we all had to plant 3 plants each. Most of us really didn't know the process of the tree planting so a women from the city office a gave our class a demo. The procedure is you dig a deep hole but that that deep just enough that you can fit the whole plant, then you take off the stem stuff from the dirt part of the plant, then you place the plant in the hole and cover the dirt on the bottom and top of the plant and then your done. One benefit I got out of this tree planting experience is that now I know how the procedure if my family or anybody else I know dosen't know the full procedure I can show it and explain it too them. This was a great experience because getting my hands dirty and feeling the soil of our city feels awesome and knowing that I helped our city in some way also feels great. Next time to improve I can bring a raincoat and gun boots and avoid getting the muddiest in the class. I would say this was a bittersweet time.

Grade 8 Retreat Reflection

Grade 8 retreat reflection blog post

The grade 8 retreat overall for me was  fun, tiring, good, and bad well being with 23 grade eights for the whole day is atually harder then it seems because there was a grade eights in both the morning and afternoon group that weren't listening and they weren't cooperating with us like for example there was a boy who kept putting his shirt on his face like that got us a bit annoying for us. A few things I would improve for next year are having a better game plan and also to put different groups of grade eights together so they can meet new people. Some strengths I have as a leader are getting people in an organized format, raising my voice when needed and letting the grade eights have a say in what they want to do. Some areas I could improve on as being a leader are explaining the activity in a format that the kids could play the activity and understand it and also try to get all the grade eights involved because in some activities the kids were losing interest and not participating. One moment I had as a teacher is when I was raising my voice to get the grade eights to listen and also when I was trying to arrange them in a certain format. One moment I had as a learner is when one girl I ( I don't remember her name ) was explaining a game to me that I have never played or heard of so I felt like a learner then.
